Recently we discussed the value of practice communication strategies. This week we will look at other practice processes that drive goal achievement. I recently had a conversation with a potential new client and asked her how often she reviews reports from her billing company. She shared that she does this quarterly. We discussed the value of staying close to your revenue drivers so you can adjust throughout the year. A monthly meeting with your billing person or company to help identify areas of improvement will ensure that you are on track to achieve your financial goals.

In addition, consider tracking your key performance indicators weekly and monthly. For example, tracking the number of new patients each week and sharing the information with your staff allows them to connect their efforts to practice results. From optimizing the booking window, to answering the phone, your staff’s daily actions are key to achieving new patient goals.

One of our clients focused diligently on growing new patients including extending his office hours by staggering the staff schedule. The numbers improved but not to the level desired, so we collaborated with the staff to improve his online reputation. We set a goal with his staff to make three review requests of patients each week. After several months, his review ratings had improved from 4 stars to 4.9 and his schedule is full of new patients. During our last visit, he informed me that his practice was on track to make 2021 one of the most profitable years of his career.

Communicating your practice goals to your staff ensures that they are linking their responsibilities to practice goals. By consistently sharing this information you will drive ideas, accountability, teamwork, and goal achievement.
