We've recently looked at intention, infrastructure, and innovation.
We discussed being intentional with your staff and ensuring that you are communicating practice goals and supporting staff needs. I often find a correlation between communication and frustrated leaders. Less communication equates to more frustration. Goals and expectations are great but if there's no supporting action behind them, this will only lead to frustration for you and your staff.
How do you know if you are communicating your expectations clearly and consistently? Look at your calendar and count the number of staff meetings that you have had over the last 90 days.
If you’re having less than three meetings a month, your practice does not have a consistent communication strategy to support your expectations. To align your actions with your expectations, plan consistent meetings to discuss practice goals, values, responsibilities, and key performance indicators. Communication and collaboration will align your staff, improve practice results and reduce frustration.
Putting action behind your expectations requires committing time to your staff and partnering with them to determine how to improve processes to achieve practice goals. Aligning expectations with actions requires dedicating time each week to review progress towards goals and time for your staff to engage with you and each other without distractions.
