Recently we've looked at being intentional with your words and actions with your staff. We've also looked at key infrastructure components around staff development and accountability.
This week we’ll look at the importance of innovation and how to build a practice environment that drives innovation. Our clients are often involved in medical research so they value the importance of innovation in improving patient care. Transferring an innovative mindset to their practice is challenging until they recognize that intention and infrastructure provide the foundation for innovation.
Intention and infrastructure are the building blocks of growing a practice and must be solidified before your practice can innovate. People from a variety of industries utilize innovation as a cornerstone of their success and understand that innovation is necessary to achieve successful outcomes.
Dr. Ken Hudson defines innovation as “the creation, development and implementation of a new product, process or service, with the aim of improving efficiency, effectiveness or competitive advantage."
Motivating a staff to consistently innovate requires a practice infrastructure that encourages the sharing of ideas. This can only occur when there is a safe environment where the staff feels valued and appreciated.
Of the many lessons from 2020, we learned the value of innovation. From remote work processes to telehealth visits as a common means to connect with patients, we found the value of innovation. To grow, the practice environment must inspire the staff to be innovative.
A practice is only as strong as the people that are a part of it, so if you want a stronger practice be intentional with your staff and develop an infrastructure that drives innovation.
