As we wind down the first quarter of 2022, we continue to explore ways to strengthen your practice. I recently read a quote by John Templeton that highlights the value of change. “It is impossible to produce superior performance unless you do something different.”
As we have been discussing this year, it is imperative that you look at your practice differently and this begins by acting with intention.
Often when I speak with new clients there are two common concerns. The first concern is their staff and the disconnect between the physician’s expectations and the staff's ability to execute those expectations. The second is the desire to improve practice results.
My first question is around processes specific to communication and practice performance. Most commonly neither of these practices exist.
Connecting practice results to your staff's responsibilities ensures that there is clarity of expectations. Being intentional means executing consistent meetings with your staff and reviewing key performance indicators (KPI’s). Common KPI’s include new patients, procedures, and the all-important booking window.
KPI’s allow you to connect your two most significant financial responsibilities, your staff, and your financial results. Consistently sharing your KPI's provides your staff with
clarity of expectations and connects their responsibilities to practice results.
By connecting responsibilities to results, your staff is provided an opportunity to celebrate successes, innovate processes and enhance results. Intentional communication ensures that your staff and results are positively impacted.
